ahhh, it's finally Sunday

The drive to Ten Sleep is really beautiful.  It's a very small town of about 250 people.  We stopped at the church (amazingly they have a full ward there) and talked to two members and asked what we should see in Ten Sleep.  They mentioned the fish hatchery.  So we drove up there and it was really pretty.  It was late so we didn't stay very long.  Even though between Worland and Ten Sleep there is nothing for half an hour the landscape isn't as barren as I thought it would be.  It's not like southern Utah.  It's a little more green and you see lots of different colors of rock, not just red.

Church this morning:
We went to the 2nd ward because all the houses we looked at are in that ward.  It starts at 9:30 with sacrament meeting first.  The other ward starts at 9:00 with primary/RS/priesthood first.  It was a really good meeting and everyone was very welcoming.  We got invited over for dinner at 2:00 by the family that Brian home teaches.  He has been attending the 1st ward for the last two months, so this family is in the 1st ward. They have 5 children from 9 months to 11 yrs.  The dinner was delicious and the kids made some friends.

We are also invited over to the stake president's house tonight for dessert and games.  I can hardly wait to have our own house so that we can invite people over as well.

House situation:
We were leaning toward two houses on the same street.  We had seen both.  Each one had it's own issues and both were only 4 bedrooms.  The one Brian liked the most I just didn't like.  I wasn't sure exactly what I didn't like about it, I just didn't.  The other one I liked more, but Brian had more issues with it.  (like it needed a new roof and paint and.....)  There was another house that Brian had looked at and had been inside but I hadn't seen it yet.  It was 5 bedrooms.  It was a split entry, which I really don't like, but I wanted to see the inside anyway.  The realtor couldn't show it to us on Saturday.  Today we drove by it and the owners were in the yard.  We stopped and talked with them and they let us go through the house.  It completely won me over.  The bedrooms are so much bigger than the other two houses plus the fact that there are 5 of them.  The kitchen could use new cabinets, but the existing ones I can live with.  It has a more usable backyard as well.  It's within walking distance of the elementary school, but I would have to drive the kids to the middle school and high school.  I talked with one of the members who lives on that street and she said it's a great neighborhood.  Another one of the members on the ward who has young children said she likes this elementary school the best of the three as well.  So, tomorrow we are going to put in an offer.  There is one drawback.  The people that live in the house don't have a place to move to yet. It may take 2-3 weeks before we could move in.  The other two houses we were considering were available almost immediately.  But, I'm willing to wait for the right house.  Brian and I prayed and fasted about it and we feel good so far.  There may be a light at the end of the tunnel!  Thanks for all the prayers that have been offered in our behalf!

Until tomorrow.....

Julie

  1. Julie, these pictures are beautiful! I'm sorry you're still waiting for a home for you family, but it sounds like this one is worth the wait. I can't wait to see pictures of it!!

    1. Thanks Christy! I have to admit I'm getting very impatient. When I think of everything that is involved with moving in-ugh, I just want it over with! I'm already tired thinking of the work involved. Thankfully the house is in good condition and clean. The couple that owns the house have kept it up and their kids are grown and gone so there is a lot less wear and tear.
