Elder Edholm -- week 93

Hello there, it's been a while since I've written. I was transferred, I am now in Glendale with Elder Ridges. He's from Seattle Washington and I am finishing training him, he's only been out here since the beginning of March. The Mexican culture here is really strong so I'm excited to get to know it better! Up until now I have been around predominately South Americans, so the Mexican accent is a little hard for me.

I'm heading home in the beginning of July, so this will probably be the last area that I serve in.

I was reading in Alma 37 the other day and in verse 32 it talks about "an everlasting hatred against sin and iniquity". I thought it was interesting how it is phrased. I thought more and it made me think of another scripture, James 4:17, "Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin".

I really want to have the desire to not only not do the bad, but to also do all of the good I can.

Sorry for not writing in a while!

How to Get Away with Myrtle by Elizabeth C. Bunce

Junior Mystery. I love reading mysteries mostly because the detective characters are so fascinating!  This book is the second in the Myrtle Hardcastle mystery series, the first one was checked out so I started with the second and it didn't seem to matter that I missed number one. Myrtle Hardcastle is a 12 year old girl living in England at the turn of the century. She has a love of science and well, murder. The problem is not a lot of people take her insights seriously. That doesn't stop her from calling out the murderer when she sees the clues!  I listened to this book and it was delightful!

Elder Andrew Edholm -- week 90

This last week went really well. We were able to talk to quite a few new people and we are excited for them. I was also able to think about Jesus Christ a lot this past week and about His death and resurrection. I was reading in Matthew 27 on Good Friday to put myself in the setting of the events he went through. I found them to be more personal this year, His sacrifice more real. I am extremely grateful for His selflessness even though he was suffering so much.

The speakers in the world wide General Conference also focused on the Savior and His importance in our lives. I would like to share one quote from the general conference.

"We cannot afford and this world cannot afford our failure to put these gospel concepts... to full use, personally and publicly."

The Gospel of Jesus Christ is a gospel of love and service, of kindness and humility. I'm grateful for His perfect example.

I hope you had a great Easter!

Picture Perfect Frame by Lynn Cahoon

Mystery. This is yet another installment of my sit back, get cozy, feel good mystery series. Tourist Trap mysteries are quick easy reads, but the characters have become my friends and I enjoy getting absorbed in the fictional California coastal town of of South Cove. Jill and her boyfriend and police chief Greg have a knack for discovering the truth behind baffling crimes and things always get solved in the end with minimal gruesome details.

Recommend? Yes, if you like cozy mysteries.
