Sister Edholm -- week 29

Knock Knock
Who's There?
Chicken
Chicken Who?
CHICKEN WITH A BUFFALO WING

We watched this series on Mormon Channel called Two Brothers Two and it said that joke on it! Haha, we thought it was hilarious, I would recommend that show, it is quite good.

Adele is amazing, we were able to meet with her yesterday. She came in and said that she had talked to this guy on the street and she talked to him all about the Book of Mormon and he was interested and they exchanged numbers. She is amazing, I would never have been brave enough before my mission to talk to a stranger about the Book of Mormon and bear my testimony, now it is normal for me haha. Adele is the greatest!!

President McDonald comes on Friday, I am really sad to say goodbye to President Donaldson, he has changed my life and really taught me how to love the people! I know that he will do great things with the rest of his life.

We have seen some great miracles this week. We only had 3 full days in our area this week, we went back and forth from Dublin to help the sister training leaders go to the airport and be picked up, so we had their car again (it was a lot better this time, we have gotten used to it). We also had exchanges, which went really well, but we were again out of our area. Even though we didn't have much time to build up our area, we exceeded our goals for new investigators. God is real!!

I read a great scripture this last week that helps reaffirm that we are made in God's image. Ether 3:6,15

I love you guys!!

Graduation and Los Angeles

I was lucky to be able to fly to L.A. last week and be with Audrey and John as Audrey graduated from BARD College and received her Masters of Arts in Teaching degree. They were amazing hosts and I had a great time!

I got to listen to Audrey talk about her master's thesis. She did a great job!

Waiting...
The stage is ready for the graduates

The program had the name of each graduate along with where the received their undergrad degrees and the name of their thesis.

Getting her hood placed.

Her advisor is the one that got to do the honors.

All smiles!
Happy couple!
Proud Mom!

Ceiling of the cathedral
The food was amazing and this was my fav!  Corn pizza--delish!

We went to the GRAMMY Museum and it was entertaining, enjoyable, enlightening, and so much fun!

We saw baby goats at the Farmer's Market, not what I was expecting in downtown L.A.

Amoeba Music is the last large independent music store. I took the picture to show Palmer, he was so envious!

We went to a Swedish Sweet shop and Audrey bought some sweets for Brian for Father's Day.

Sister Edholm -- week 28

Goodbye,

We had our last All-Ireland with President Donaldson on Tuesday. It was really said to say goodbye, but we were able to give him and Sister Donaldson one last hug. I am definitely going to miss him a lot.

We also got to Skype with Elder Bednar, which was really cool. He told us not to write down what he said, but write down the impressions that we got, and the answers to our questions that he had not answered. It was cool to pay attention to that and to get answers, even if I didn't physically ask a question.

ADELE WAS CONFIRMED YESTERDAY!! She is the cutest! After she walked back she said, "Was I walking back" we said, "...Yes?..." She said, "No, I was the flying!" It was so cute and Adele like. She is the coolest person I have ever met and I am so glad that I am able to be a part of her life!

Yesterday, we walked out of our flat and to the elevator, I got inside, but Sister Westbroek didn't. We realized that we had forgotten to get family history pass along cards, because those are the ones that we pass out on Sundays. Well, I was already in the elevator and the doors closed. They wouldn't open again, so I had to go all the way down to the ground level and then back up. . . Yep it was pretty scary, Sister Westbroek was left all alone and she kept yelling down the stairs to make sure I was alright. I was, don't worry.

Alma 26:37 Great verse!! :)

Hello,
Love you all,

Sister Edholm -- week 27

Last Monday, after we emailed, we had a ward BBQ. At the end of it they had their annual wellie toss and we participated in it. It was really fun, but with all games, I am still the reigning champion of getting last place haha. BUT Sister Westbroek got first in the women's throw!!

The STL's had to go to a training meeting in Edinburgh, well first Sister Curtis had to go to a training and then Sister Irving joined her the next day, SO we had to go to Dublin and hangout with Sister Irving for the day and then the next day, we dropped her off early at the airport and we had her car. Let me tell you, driving after 6 months on the other side of the road is a little mind boggling haha. It wasn't actually that bad, but I learned that I love walking, because I forgot how hard it is to turn around, if you make a wrong turn. THANK GOODNESS FOR SATNAVS!!

We were able to witness our friend, Adele, be baptized on Sunday. It was the best thing that I have been a part of so far! She has been waiting since January to be baptized, she just had to move out of her house, it took awhile for her to find a new one and finally last week, she nonchalantly said that she had moved into a new house and could finally be baptized!! She is such an amazing person and it was so cool to see her bear her testimony at the end of the service!! I LOVE HER!!

I have learned a lot this week about miracles and how God works in mysterious ways, He truly does care and love us and He knows exactly what we are going through and what we are feeling.

This week we were working on ways to keep our thoughts more in harmony with God's will, so we thought we would memorize a scripture on virtue, it is a good one, I would recommend reading and or if you want to take up the challenge, memorize it as well!

I love you all!!

Sister Edholm -- week 26

Hello everyone!

This week was definitely a better week!
We had some great miracles, I have learned that there is such thing as a miracle prep week. When weeks get hard, that means that a miracle or blessing is awaiting you around the corner.

We taught our friend Inga this week and we taught her the Plan of Salvation. She cried when we talked about the Celestial Kingdom and being able to live with God again. I know that God truly has a plan for us and that he is waiting for us to return to Him!

We also got to go to the zoo this week! It wasn't a lame zoo either, there were a lot of animals there!

I was thinking a lot about commandments this week and how I can better keep them and apply them better in my life. I realized that Heavenly Father loves us and as we do our best to keep His commandments, He will bless us, He knows that we aren't going to be perfect, that is why He sent Jesus Christ, to atone for all of our sins. I know that we can repent and change. I was listening to a face to face the other day and it was by President Oaks and Elder Ballard. President Oaks said, "Repentance is possible and forgiveness is certain." I know that that is true, God wants to forgive us, but we need to do our part and repent and change daily.

I love you guys!!
Have an amazing week!!

Love,
Sister Edholm

Emma wrote the following just to me and I wanted to share it:
I know that serving a mission was the best choice I could have made and although it is hard, I have learned so much and I have changed so much for the better. The habits that I have developed are going to change my life forever as I continue to get to know God better and have a more organized life.

Van fans and handcarts

Weekend spent in Utah with family was wonderful!  We attended the funeral of my sister's mother-in-law, Leila Morris and felt the love of her family and of the Lord.

Grandpa always brings cookies for his favorite grandson!

Reading books with Van is so fun!
On the way home we stopped at Rock Creek Hollow were the Willie Handcart company was rescued and where 15 people are buried after the Rocky Ridge ascent was too much for them. A wonderful sacred place and a beautiful day!  The huge Wyoming sky was so blue, not a cloud in sight!

The SKY!
